ROOFING
The performance of Monier concrete tiles is guaranteed for 50 years – see guarantee details.
However, as a purchaser of Monier concrete tiles, it is important that you understand their
designed performance.
WEATHER PROOFING
Concrete tiles are created from the controlled formulation of raw materials under high pressure
to achieve the tile’s strength and resistance to water penetration. They remain weather-tight
over time and do not become porous or brittle. The colour applied to or incorporated into the
body is purely decorative. Each tile’s colour may vary in shades throughout the roof. All tiles
will contain small blemishes. During transportation and installation other small blemishes such
as scuffing and chip marks may occur. Small blemishes will not detract from the weather proofing
and should not be viewed as a product fault.
EFFLORESCENCE
Concrete tiles, like any concrete product, may experience salts migrating to the surface when
first exposed to the elements. This is known as efflorescence. General Efflorescence Preventative
(GEP) is applied as a sacrificial coating to roof tiles to prevent this occurring. The GEP coating
can give the appearance of a variation in the colour of the tiles, but this effect will dissipate as the
gloss coat weathers leaving a matt finish and a uniform colour. Monier does not guarantee tile colour.
COLOUR MATCHING
Colours have been reproduced as faithfully as possible, however actual tile
colours may differ to varying degrees. We urge all customers to view tiles on display before
making a decision.

BRICKS
COLOUR MATCHING
All products on this website were photographed to match the original colours as closely
as possible, however, production runs vary slightly and different computer screens
(and screen settings) will display products differently. Monier recommend customers visit a
display or request a sample.
BRICKS & PAVERS
Monier’s colours are produced from natural clays – colour ranges are inherent in the product
and should be sampled accordingly. Weights and dimensions listed are nominal averages and
individual products may vary.
Monier maintains the right to revise packaging and products displayed on the website.
BRICK DIMENSIONS
All dimensions provided on this website are nominal. Bricks are made of a natural product
and therefore dimensions will vary slightly.
To measure whether bricks fall within the acceptable tolerances, the industry standard states
you must measure 20 bricks together, divide by 20 to get the average and then check that it
falls within the accepted tolerances.
The rule to calculate nominal brick size (per brick) is based on the following formula:
-
Length
To measure length place 20 bricks end to end.
The standard Brick length and tolerance is 230mm x 20 bricks = 4600mm (+/-90mm).
Therefore the acceptable tolerance is from 4510mm - 4690mm.
To get the average, divide the total length by 20.
-
Depth
The standard brick depth and tolerance is 76mm x 20 bricks = 1520mm (+/- 50mm).
Therefore the acceptable tolerance is from 1470mm - 1570mm.
To get the average, divide the total depth by 20.
-
Width
To measure depth width place 20 bricks side-by-side, holes up.
The standard brick width and tolerance is 70mm x 20 bricks = 1400mm (+/-50mm).
Therefore the acceptable tolerance is from 1350mm - 1450mm.
To get the average, divide the total depth by 20.
